The Mediating Effect of Shared Decision-making on Patient Satisfaction with Participation in Cancer Clinical Trials

ObjectiveThe participation of patients with advanced cancer(s) in clinical trials is vital for new drug development. We aimed to investigate patients’ decision-making processes and satisfaction their decision participate (SWD); the study’s purpose was provide results that can help support high-quality research trials. In addition, we explored how shared (SDM) mediates relationship between understanding informed consent forms SWD a trial.MethodsA cross-sectional study conducted. A purposive sample 111 cancer recruited, they completed questionnaire on demographic characteristics, SDM, trial. Correlation mediation analyses were used.ResultsParticipants under 65 higher education reported high SWDs, SDM significantly mediated self-assessed SWDs related trials.ConclusionsSDM lung or liver significant mediator form patient’s SWD.
